Carrie Would So Wear This

For how to make this chiffon rose, click here.

Didn't think I was immune to the SATC mania, did you? I have the reruns set up to record (don't ask why I haven't just bought the series on DVD...). While SATC 2 has earned some less than flattering reviews, you can't fault the gals on style. This chiffon rose, made for Project Wedding by amazing blogger Livy over at A Field Journal, is so Carrie but without the couture price tag!

More Stationery Inspiration

Being back in the US means catching up with all of the mags I miss...And even though I'm coming up on my one year wedding anniversary, I still love to flip through and click onto Martha Stewart Weddings. Confessions of a former Charleston Weddings magger (at least that's what I try to blame this obsession on)!

Anyway, I love everything about this stationery suite - the chic black and blush color scheme, the hand-drawn star and handwriting font...Now that's more like confessions of a paper fanatic!

I'm a Sucker for a Good Notebook...

I've had disconsolator's Etsy store bookmarked for a while, but this mustard yellow and ketchup red combo might be enough to follow through with checkout...

Homescapes: Americana

Flag Knit Throw, $68, Urban Outfitters

Even though it was 3 a.m. (per my body clock, anyway) by the time I sat myself down in our hotel's bistro after enjoying a warm night out, I was ready for a slab of American steak and a ton of fries...And trust, it did not disappoint!

Want proof? Now the whole thing's got me in a mood that stops just shy of chanting, "USA! USA!" through the streets (thankfully...), hence why I'm obsessed with this flag blanket from Urban Outfitters. And could it be better timing when I just happen to be heading to Georgetown this afternoon for some shopping?!

Ahh...it's good to be home.

Pan E Tulipani Suede Ankle Boots, £470, Matches.com

I know we're supposed to be all about strappy sandals and pedis, but my current obsession leans more toward tall grass summers than city chic (although I wouldn't complain if these raffia Stella's made their way to me...)

Sadly, at £470, I somehow doubt these boots will be mine. Dream on...

Foodie Friday: Giada At Home

5/15/10

I know it's one day late, but let's stick with the theme anyway - especially since Amanda (of guest blogging fame) told me this week that our girl Giada de Laurentiis has a new cookbook out. To offer some history, Giada recipes featured heavily in our apartment at university - the fettuccine alfredo with a touch of lemon being a favorite (just go easy on the lemon juice...the online recipe seems to be a bit off from the one in her book) - as both of us became completely addicted to the Food Network.

Bring on the Italy meets California fusion that she's known for! What's more? Amanda also let me in on a secret she's been sitting on for a while - Giada has her own kitchen range at Target! Between the cream colored ceramic bakeware and the stack of clothes I plan to bring back from J.Crew when I go to America next weekend, I'm thinking a new suitcase might have to join me on the flight back to London.

Homescapes: Color Clash

5/12/10

Although I don't think I'd be brave enough to paint my bedroom walls in a dark hue, I really love the mix of hothouse-style brights with moody walls....Would only work if you have amazing amounts of natural light coming through, but if you're that lucky - why not!

Bella Hothouse Bedding, £38-£178, Anthropologie
Paints, $35-$125, Farrow & Ball
Cross Stitched Bed Linen, £22-£129, Toast

Garrison Satchel, $128 (originally $178), J.Crew

How perfect would this satchel be as a carry on? While I don't think I can swing it for the flight out to America (two weeks and counting!) as it's a J.Crew, it's very likely to make an appearance on the flight back to London...
