Foodie Friday: Giada At Home

I know it's one day late, but let's stick with the theme anyway - especially since Amanda (of guest blogging fame) told me this week that our girl Giada de Laurentiis has a new cookbook out. To offer some history, Giada recipes featured heavily in our apartment at university - the fettuccine alfredo with a touch of lemon being a favorite (just go easy on the lemon juice...the online recipe seems to be a bit off from the one in her book) - as both of us became completely addicted to the Food Network.

Bring on the Italy meets California fusion that she's known for! What's more? Amanda also let me in on a secret she's been sitting on for a while - Giada has her own kitchen range at Target! Between the cream colored ceramic bakeware and the stack of clothes I plan to bring back from J.Crew when I go to America next weekend, I'm thinking a new suitcase might have to join me on the flight back to London.

Foodie Friday: Pop Tarts

 Photograph courtesy of Smitten Kitchen

Love London though I do - I'm definitely missing some stateside staples. Good ol' pop tarts being one! So when this recipe popped up on my blogroll, I completely fell in love! Fill these with just about anything... I know the cinnamon filling (with icing glaze on top, of course!) will be first up for me. For the recipe, click over to Smitten Kitchen.

Foodie Friday: Peanut Butter Pie

Photograph courtesy of Bake or Break, where you can find a link to the printable recipe in the top left corner.

Just last week I was in a nostalgia land over peanut butter pie with my fellow North American coworker (she's Canadian) over none other than peanut butter...which led to "ants on a log" (celery sticks with peanut butter and raisins)...and finally something more gluttonous: peanut butter pie!

So when I spied this recipe over at Bake or Break, I knew it was for me; peanut butter is only made better by chocolate. Plus, it's a Baked recipe so I know it'll be decadent. (I used to curl up in Baked Charleston with a cup of their amazing coffee and a sweet something to do my homework during my senior year at College of Charleston. Blame it on the free wifi!)

Web Roundup: Best DIYs of the Week

This might just become a regular feature (if you all like it, that is)! On that note, please feel free to email or comment when you love-love-love something and want to see more like it, but also when you loathe-loathe-loathe something, too. Just remember to tell me why so I know what about it strikes you/makes makes you want to run screaming.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Photograph courtesy of http://www.smittenkitchen.com/

Even though I'm settled on this side of the pond, I still celebrate Thanksgiving...albeit sometimes in other ways. (We hosted an pre-Thanksgiving Mexican fiesta this year.) So I'm taking today and tomorrow off to give thanks—and track down canned pumpkin, which is rumoured to be lurking in the canned fruit section of Waitrose. If I'm successful, I'm def going to go with glorious food blog Smitten Kitchen's recipe.
